The Risk Information Alliance (RIA) brings together organisations with shared interests

The increasing demands for corporate due diligence and responsible business practices, driven by new laws in major commodity markets, have created a complex and costly landscape for companies and sustainability systems. In response to these challenges, companies typically act independently, without collaboration or data sharing, resulting in the duplication of efforts, disproportionate financial capabilities, and higher likelihood of inconsistent findings.

Addressing these challenges, the Risk Information Alliance (RIA) brings together organisations with shared interests to pool resources, funding, and expertise to facilitate the joint production of credible, high-quality and up-to-date risk data covering diverse commodities, sectors, and geographies.

The RIA will develop, and pilot test a methodology and set of indicators to ensure consistency in risk assessment development, findings review, and conclusion approval. Furthermore, the RIA will develop and implement a blueprint for a risk data storage platform to enable Members to share and easily access risk data for use within their own systems in a cost-effective way.

By facilitating cross-sector risk data collaboration, the RIA will empower companies to make better-informed sourcing decisions and sustainability investments, positioning the Alliance as a valuable tool for implementing effective, and impactful due diligence processes in sustainability systems.

Funding

The RIA benefits from the award of a grant under the ISEAL Innovations Fund, which receives generous support from principal donor, the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO). The ISEAL Innovations Fund supports ISEAL members to join forces in exploring new, ambitious solutions to key sustainability challenges. The grant has been awarded to SBP and Preferred by Nature and covers the two years to the end of 2025. It is matched in-kind by SBP and Preferred by Nature.
